KAKIZOME 2025 Event- Setting Goals with First Calligraphy of Year

KAKIZOME: Settings Goals with First Calligraphy Writing of the Year

Kakizome (書き初め, literally "first writing") is a Japanese term for the first calligraphy written at the beginning of a year, traditionally on January 2.

Kakizome is a Japanese New Year’s tradition to write the New Year’s resolution with brush and ink at the beginning of the year. Traditionally, Kakizome was performed using ink rubbed with Wakamizu, the first water drawn from the well on New Year's Day. Kakizome is an important New Year’s event to wish for happiness, success in one's goal, and progress in one's calligraphy writing.

In modern times, people often write out auspicious kanji (Japanese characters) rather than poems.

Join Satori Family Wellness Center as *Tao Calligraphy Teacher, Laurie, leads you through a practice integrating the Japanese tradition of Kakizome with the sacred healing art of Tao Calligraphy*.

Each participant can join in writing their own calligraphy. The focus will be on writing a calligraphy of a Greatest Tao Quality of one's choice (e.g. Greatest Love, Greatest Forgiveness, Greatest Compassion, Greatest Light, Greatest Humility, Greatest Harmony, Greatest Gratitude, Greatest Service) to bless and manifest one's positive intentions the New Year!

A very GENEROUS Special Service Offering will be offered for registered participants!
